Natural Environment, Water and Sustainability (NEWS) Branch is responsible for setting policies and delivering programs that help Brisbane City Council and the community become more sustainable and protect and enhance Brisbane's natural environment.
As Senior Program Officer within the Green Community Initiatives team, you will lead the design and delivery of a range of community focused behavioural change and education initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply your experience in managing and administering community education and change programs to lead Council's engagement with schools around the environment and sustainability.
Your responsibilities include:
- developing and delivering initiatives aimed at increasing the environmental sustainability of school communities, at a classroom and broader school level
- promoting awareness of Green Heart Schools initiatives and environmental education issues to educators and the broader community
- contributing to the implementation of initiatives engaging more broadly with Brisbane residents, schools, businesses and community organisations
- providing advice and maintaining current knowledge of emerging issues, trends and policy impacts in the sustainability education arena.
To be successful in this role you will have:
demonstrated knowledge of the current thinking, emerging issues, research, policy, legislation strategies and education curriculum related to a broad range of sustainability issues in Brisbane schools
broad experience in project management with well-developed analytical and problem solving skills.
high level experience in developing and managing stakeholder engagement, negotiating, influencing and making decisions.
