This is an excellent opportunity for a person with exceptional communication skills and a background in high volume bank or general ledger reconciliation to join the corporate banking, trust and treasury team in Brisbane City Council.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily monitoring of financial market transactions and will need to have a general understanding of separation of powers and the importance of internal controls.

The role will suit a grounded, self-motivated and highly organised individual from either an accounting, banking or auditing background that enjoys working closely with other team members.

Reporting to the Senior Banking and Trust Accountant you will be responsible for:

    performing daily bank account reconciliations against previous day's cash flow forecast
    providing independent compliance functions for all daily financial market transactions made
    exception reporting on treasury activities
    providing support to other team members in performance of reconciliation functions necessary to the bank reconciliation
    providing support in administering treasury, trust and banking activities generally, such as preparation of general ledger journal entries.

To be successful you will have:

    knowledge of accounting standards and contemporary financial accounting concepts
    experience in compliance and settlement processes with specific attention to treasury activities
    well-developed analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to trace and resolve complex transactions
    ability to work effectively in a team environment
    highly developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
    well-developed organisational skills and the ability to work within targets and strict deadlines
    experience in using computer based software and corporate accounting systems.
