Environmental Risk Assessor in either Sydney or Melbourne locations to undertake responsibilities as a lead for CH2M HILL projects in the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Region.
Description and Desired Qualifications
- Conduct, oversee and produce generic and detailed qualitative and quantitative risk assessments within the Australian regulatory framework, including identifying and / or deriving appropriate risk-based screening levels for human health and environmental (groundwater, surface waters, ecological) receptors
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of Australian regulatory guidance, risk assessment methodologies, screening levels, best practices and Australian contaminated land issues for both human health and environmental receptors
- Take a leadership role in risk assessment issues across the ANZ region acting as the point of contact for CH2M HILL’s risk assessment ‘Community of Practice’ and supporting the development of other Australian risk assessors
- Provide input into the design of remediation strategies, and work with other project managers in developing risk based remediation criteria to support remediation implementation
- Actively participate in growing existing and new clients across the full spectrum of services provided by the Environmental Services business group and lead the growth of the risk assessment practice in the ANZ region
- Prepare proposals, environmental and safety plans, data evaluations, and reports for submittal to clients & regulators across the full spectrum of contaminated land services
- Manage and / or support project managers with the safe delivery of site investigations and remedial works projects strategically focused on risk drivers, regulatory requirements and client expectations. As a project manager, focus should also be on project finances (setting and tracking budgets), staffing (allocating appropriate resources) and scheduling of works
- Supervise, support, mentor and oversee junior staff within the Environmental Services team with technical works, project delivery and career development
- Liaise with and actively participate in the CH2M HILL global risk assessment groups, including within the Asia Pacific Region
Basic Qualifications
- An applicable engineering or science degree
- Applicants considered with 8 years to Principal level of relevant experience
- A proactive persona with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong proven technical and delivery background
- Permanent Residency of Australia or Australian citizenship essential
- A full current drivers licence is required
