DSA’s Day Options centre's provide meaningful skill development
programs and community access activities for people with a disability in
small groups.
As a Day Options Coordinator, you will be responsible for the effective
and efficient leadership of a team that provides enjoyable and
personalised centre and community based skill development, social and
vocational opportunities and activities for more than twenty people with
a disability from the local community.
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
• A commitment to the rights of all people to dignity, respect, social and community inclusion
• Leadership experience with teams that supports people achieve these rights.
• High level organisational and logistics management experience of teams and resources.
• Commitment to building customer relationships.
• Understanding of the diverse support needs of people with a disability and their families.
• Practical knowledge of various disabilities, complex support needs including Multi Element Plans.
• Ability to coach direct support staff in delivering quality services.
• Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and email/internet.
• Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written and verbal.
• Demonstrated skills in managing rosters, writing reports and recording important documents/information.
• Experience with or knowledge of the implications on service delivery
of the Disability Services Act and Standards and other legislation.
• Cert III or IV in Disability Services and a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain.
• Local knowledge of resources in the Bankstown / East Hills local areas
to provide opportunities for social and community inclusion and
engagement.
• A Current Driver’s Licence is essential for this role.
• Willingness to work between the “day worker” span of hours Monday to Friday (6am – 6pm).
