Job Notes:

    Initial entry requires undertaking the Training Program. This is a ten (10) week full-time course. All trainees must successfully complete this Training Program in order to retain their appointment.

    All applicants who are short-listed from the application stage will be required to undergo a range of computer testing conducted by the NSW Police Force Communications Group including typing speed ( a minimum of 35 words per minute with 98% accuracy), data entry, comprehension, short-term memory, etc.  Only applicants who rank highest in this process will proceed to the interview stage.

    This position is classified as a shift worker in accordance with clause 3.58 of the Crown Employees (NSW Police Force Administrative Officer and Temporary Employees) Award 2009. Shift penalties are paid as appropriate in accordance with clause 89.1 of the Award.

Position Description
Providing radio support to police the Communications Officer is responsible for tasking and coordinating activities of police vehicles responding to incidents. The Communications Officer also processes urgent and non urgent telephone calls providing timely information to operational police to enable appropriate action to be taken. The Communications Officer reports to the Senior Communications Officer.
