Overview of Role
The Automation Test Analyst role is integral to the Computershare Product Development Team. The successful candidate will work with a variety of project stakeholders (including Business Analysts and Developers) at various different stages within the System Development Life-Cycle, ultimately building enough product knowledge to develop and execute QTP system/regression scripts. Reporting to the Test Manager/Test Team lead, the Automation Test Analyst will be responsible for all aspects of automated testing on a project. Projects will span a variety of different business areas and technologies and offer the opportunity for technical development and career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Continue to implement the automated testing processes as defined by Computershare
- Produce an automation test plan in compliance with the overall test strategy
- Apply estimation techniques in relation to automation tasks
- Work closely with Business Analysts and Developers to build the automated test deliverables (test plan, QTP test scripts, test data etc..) to the agreed timescale and quality
- Plan and execute QTP system/regression test scripts. Log results and maintain documentation in Quality Centre/QTP
- Responsible for automation training within the test team
- Promotion of automated testing across all of Computershare's technologies
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of system test and UAT environments
- Prioritisation and reporting of defects in line with Computershare process and procedures
- Input to the management of defects in line with agreed procedures
- Take part in the build and release management process with the development teams (i.e. Handover testing)
- Attend regular status meetings as required with the testing and project teams
- Escalate project exceptions to the Test Manager/Project Manager
- Support business stakeholders as necessary throughout the UAT cycle
- Manage allocated workload/test activities
Essential Skills, Experience and Competencies
- Significant experience in test automation using Quick Test Professional (QTP)
- Extensive hands on experience with QTP tool (VB scripting, debugging etc…). Must be adept at coding in QTP using VB script
- Knowledge of Visual Studio 2010 or later version
- In depth knowledge and experience in Automation Testing Methodologies and best practices
- Experience of establishing/developing automated frameworks
- ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate
- Experience of using Testing tools e.g. HP Quality Centre
- Good organisational skills
- Good attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible approach to work; adapting to peaks and troughs of activity
- 100% dedicated to delivering high quality products to deadlines
- Self motivated and able to work alone or in a team
- A lateral thinker that is able to see the whole picture
- Ability to learn quickly on the job
Desirable Skills, Experience and Competencies
- Graduate in an IT related discipline
- Knowledge of the Financial Services industry
- Knowledge and experience with Selenium automation tool
- Knowledge of VMS operating system
