BMA Broadmeadow Mine is a punch Longwall underground coal mine located 190 kilometres South West of Mackay and the Whitsunday coast. Drawing on a large coal reserve, Broadmeadow Mine will produce 5.2mtpa of high quality coking coal. About the role:

BMA Broadmeadow Mine is currently seeking applicants for the roles of Longwall Production Supervisor and Development Production Supervisor.

The Longwall Production Supervisor role will be critical for the successful implementation and operation of Longwall Top Coal Caving at Broadmeadow Mine, where a high level of automated mining process and sequences will be paramount for enabling safe and consistent production.

The Development Production Supervisor role will be responsible for the operation of a modern high productivity development panel that incorporates a monorail services system.

Reporting to the Underground Shift Superintendent the successful candidates will be dynamic leaders with a strong commitment to drive production processes and the confidence to involve their people in all elements of the job. To be successful in this role a demonstrated commitment to achieving "Zero Harm" is essential.

Specific challenges within this role will include:

  • Provide supervision of and leadership to longwall crew members and assist in their coaching and development, fostering a positive and productive working relationship with crew members;
  • Provide support to the Shift Superintendent by safely managing the crew to achieve production, maintenance and cost targets;
  • Facilitate effective interaction between the crew and other shifts and operational personnel;
  • Performance management and development of crew members;
  • Ensure that all work performed by the crews within the area is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation;
  • Maintaining high levels of longwall automation utilisation;
  • Ensure a pro-active approach to safety management;
  • Assist with the implementation of safe work procedures including conducting safety inspections, assisting in conducting safety observations and contact sessions, and participating in safety investigations as required;
  • The allocation of resources in line with the requirements and directions of the Shift Superintendent; and
  • Provide technical and practical support to the crews.
                                                                  
Competencies and requirements of the role:

  • Experience in high productivity continuous miner and/or automated longwall operations;
  • Demonstrated Commitment to achieving Zero Harm;
  • A QLD Deputies Certificate of Competence or a NSW equivalent;
  • Strong coaching skills with a desire to mentor others;
  • Sound technical and operating knowledge of development and/or longwall mining processes;
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage individuals and teams;
  • Strong planning and organisational abilities; and
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships within and between teams.
