Background Information:
BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is Australia's largest metallurgical
coal miner and exporter. BMA continues to build upon its strong position within
the sector by increasing production at existing operations and identifying
strong growth opportunities.
The Caval Ridge Mine has been identified as a quality hard coking coal
resource to support BMA's growth options.
Located southeast of Moranbah, Caval Ridge Mine is a 9Mt ROM open cut
dragline and shovel operation. The new Caval Ridge Coal Handling and Process
Plant (CHPP) will have the capacity to produce in excess of 5.5Mt per
year. First Coal is expected in
2014. The project is currently in
execution phase with construction having commenced in late 2011.
We are seeking Control Room Coordinators to assist in the execution of the
Caval Ridge Mine. Reporting to the
Processing Operations Superintendent, you will play a key role in driving
production through coordination of coal processing activities, supporting the
long and short range targets set by our 2 and 5 year business plans. You will
be the on the front line at Caval Ridge's coal processing operations, and be
responsible for fostering positive relations and monitoring compliance, while
driving a zero harm focus in all aspects of day to day activities.

Your demonstrated ability to manage complex and varying control room
operations will be critical to your success in the Caval Ridge team. As the primary point of contact this role
will see you participating in the commissioning of the CHPP, providing support
to operations personnel to maximise plant efficiency.
The successful candidate will have the capability and experience to:
• Control the CHPP operation from
ROM to TLO utilising SCADA and related computer systems
• Be actively involved in
pre-commissioning activities including the continuous improvement of control
systems
• Develop plant operating
procedures, and assist in the training and development of operations personnel
• Develop safe work practices that
comply with the site health and safety management system and monitor
performance against the specified targets and standards
• Act as the relief supervisor of
processing operations when required
The successful candidate will require:
• Experience in a similar role,
preferably within minerals or metals processing or heavy industry
• Previous supervisory experience
• Strong communication skills and
the ability to interact and influence all levels of the organisation
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task
