BHP Billiton Petroleum is a significant oil and gas explorer, and producer,
with major producing assets in Australia, the United Kingdom, the Gulf of
Mexico (US), Algeria, Pakistan and Trinidad and Tobago.
The Australian Production Unit (APU) manages the existing FPSO Stybarrow
Venture (WA), the FPSO Pyrenees Venture (WA), the Dampier Supply Base (WA), the
Minerva Onshore Gas Plant (Vic) and the recently commissioned Macedon Gas Plant
(WA).
POSITION
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer in
our Australia Production Unit. The right candidate will have a background in
the petroleum industry with demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering
techniques and procedures and their integration with overall operations.
Based in our Perth Office, the Senior Rotating Equipment will interface
with other Surface Engineers, Operations & HSEC personnel, Central Engineering,
and regulatory authorities, ensuring implementation of rotating equipment
engineering excellence across all facilities and adherence to corporate
standards, policies, and guidelines.

The role requires a detailed understanding of the design, construction,
commissioning, operation and maintenance of rotating equipment associated with upstream
oil and gas production facilities. You will be responsible for:
- Supporting a Zero Harm workplace and making exemplary HSE performance your first priority
- Serve as "System Custodian" for rotating equipment-related Safety Critical Systems
- Provide specialist engineering guidance and professional judgment in support of APU operations and maintenance
- Lead root cause analysis activities in response to safety critical equipment failures, production losses and equipment failures
- Optimise production through maximising efficiency and reliability of rotating equipment
- Create, review and/or approve engineering & maintenance change requests including participation in HAZID/HAZOP activities as required
- Oversee turbine fleet management and condition monitoring/lubrication programs for rotating equipment
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant international technical standards, codes and recommended practices, interpretations and analogues to assist in the operation and development of APU assets
- Mentor less-experienced mechanical engineers in APU

Skills and Experience
A Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential with extensive
experience in rotating equipment operation and maintenance. Working knowledge
of FPSO marine operations and broad inter-discipline skills are highly
regarded. The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership, teamwork
and influencing skills.
